'Kakī Stilt' design by FLOX, laser etched onto a macrocarpa art board crafted in-house at The Paper Rain Project.

Dimensions: 190 x 760mm
  • This macrocarpa blonde beauty is our take on the retro skateboard shape but is designed specifically for wall hanging only.
  • Each board comes complete with a wall-hanging fitting.
  • Please note that each board is crafted from a unique piece of sustainable timber. Wood grain and colouring may differ from the board shown here.
  • For each board sold a native tree is planted, helping to restore and maintain New Zealand's environment.
  • Art board only.

Crafted from sustainably and locally grown Macrocarpa, this board was designed and made by The Paper Rain Project in Marlborough, New Zealand.

This board is a wall-hanging artwork and comes equipped with a fitting suitable for a standard picture hook or nail.

For each sustainably-grown tree felled, an average of 200 native trees are planted in it’s place. Thank you for helping to regenerate native forests in New Zealand.

Since their inception, skateboards have always been a canvas for creativity and expression. Paper Rain art boards are just for wall hanging and we believe that their retro skateboard shape helps to create a unique, accessible art form for the home. We also absolutely love working with timber, a natural material that has a whole story and life of its own. The macrocarpa we use to craft our boards is grown just 30km away from our workshop, on a small wood lot. Paul, the grower, is passionate about sustainability and replacing heavily treated pine timbers with more sustainable alternatives grown in a way better suited to the environment.

Every one of our boards is crafted by Paper Rain co-founder, Wills, here in Marlborough. Made solely from timber with a plant-based finish, our series of artworks is laser etched into the wood. Like our t-shirts, our boards sport a range of artworks by Kiwi artists. For each board sold, a native tree is planted here in Marlborough by Trees That Count.

The artist:
A graffiti artist with a fine art degree, Flox first made her mark in Auckland. Her trademark native birds, ferns and flowers magically transform grey walls into vibrant depictions of the natural world. FLOX’s work is seriously groundbreaking in terms of stencil making, wall-covering, spray- painting & hand-cutting goodness.

We were drawn to Hayley/Flox’s adoption of the 19th Century’s value in “craftsmanship over cheap sleazy mass production” which rings true within our own business practices. We worked with Hayley to create a limited series of Formosan Bear barrel boards and beautiful limited edition art-wear.

Behind the Brand

Paper Rain

Paper Rain is a family owned brand based in Marlborough, NZ. We (Indigo & Wills Rowe) co-founded in 2013 wanting to connect people and the products they buy with the people who made them via fair trade, hand-crafted and organic production. We live in Picton with our young daughter, Ada, and our collie x hunter way pup, Raglan. We enjoy eating good food, yoga and spending time in native bush.

At Paper Rain, we only create goods that have been sourced ethically, crafted naturally and then passed forward mindfully. Goods that honour their past, enrich the present and influence a better future.

We love collaboration and working with like-minded people. Currently, we work with 30 artists across the globe as well as incredible ethical suppliers in India, Nepal and right here in New Zealand.

Ethical goods for radical change.
