Get excited! This product is coming soon!

Stand out from the crowd with the unique and stylish Bento bag! The Bento bag originates from Japan and the unique design derives its value from a lightweight structure yet spacious enough to fit all your belongings. It has a self-closing mechanism when worn over the shoulder.

As this is lovingly handmade using numerous denim material from different pairs of jeans, the shades of blue may vary slightly, however, rest assured the beauty and quality of this bag remains.

The bag is made from panels out of at least 3-4 post-consumer jeans. The lining is made from beautiful post-industrial (manufacturer's off-cuts) Kurti (cotton) fabric.

It takes at least 10,000 litres of water to make a pair of jeans not including other resources required during the growing and manufacturing of this product. Up-cycling of this bag has resulted in the indirect saving of all these resources. Karuna Dawn's innovative, unique, 100% up-cycled denim collection partners with a company in India dedicated to zero waste practices.

Karuna Dawn's partner employs women from marginalised communities and the women are part of self-help groups and are offered training in the workshop until they are able to independently work from their home, which allows them to attend to family responsibilities.

Size: 16" width (at the widest part of the bag), 20" high (from base of bag to top of the handle)

Frustrated by a gap in the market for high-quality, socially conscious, ethical, cruelty-free, vegan bags, Karuna Dawn embarked on a passionate journey to fill this gap and offer beautifully handcrafted products that are unique, stylish, and meaningful.

The name Karuna Dawn has its roots in the ancient Sanskrit language:
Karuna - means compassion. It is an action taken to alleviate suffering.
Dawn - is the rising of compassionate & conscious living.

Change lives:
Karuna Dawn collaborates for change and chooses to partner with existing ethical and socially conscious production houses that provide fair trade practices, employment, and education opportunities. Through our choices in partnership, we continue to support social impact initiatives and help to change lives.

Karuna Dawn is a brand dedicated to providing opportunity and employment to the disadvantaged in society and committed to highlighting the power of compassionate choices on the lives of workers.

Keep traditional artistry alive:
Supporting traditional crafts provides a source of income to many villages, keeping rural communities alive and employed within their traditional environment. These highly skilled artisans practice traditions hundreds of years old and your choice to purchase our products maintains the valuable knowledge transfer from master craftspeople to students, keeping this beautiful, unique, and highly skilled artistry alive.

Save garments from landfills:
The average person buys 60% more items of clothing every year and keeps them for about half as long as what we used to 15 years ago - generating a huge amount of waste, most of which ends up in a landfill. Recognising a large proportion of good quality clothing can be re-used, re-cycled, or up-cycled, we have partnered with a zero-waste, ethical brand in India that up-cycle post-consumer jeans and post-industrial fabrics (ie. off-cuts) into beautifully designed, bespoke, handcrafted bags. Not only has your choice in purchase helped save garments from the landfill, but you are also supporting skilled workmanship, innovative design, and the re-shaping and re-thinking of manufacturing and waste.
